Hyuuga, Satoshi

THE INFO.

Name: Satoshi Hyuuga
Nickname: Sato
Age: Fourteen
Gender: Male
Appearance: The first thing most people notice about Satoshi Inoue are the telltale, milky white eyes of the Hyuuga clan. Almost immediately, - at least to any shinobi of Konohagakure, - this trait alone would define him as nobility and cause his peers to lose confidence before him. Without a doubt, the mixture of translucent white and subtle violet which makes up his hues identify him and speak to his heritage: an heir to the main branch of the Hyuuga clan. It is unobtrusive tint which even allows his pupils to be visually differentiated from the normal, white color of his sclera. These inherited hues betray only one thing regardless of what emotion they are used to portray: passion; Satoshi Inoue’s eyes are always sincere, steady, and burn with a blazing inferno of passion from which he draws strength to overcome any obstacle. What the eyes hide, however, is the young prodigy’s analytical mind and surprisingly deep moral alignments.

Ironically, the second physical trait most notice about Sato is the exact opposite of his Byakugan, in that it is atypical for members of the Hyuuga clan. Traditionally, most members of the Hyuuga clan boast darker shades of hair. However, as Sato inherited his unusual eyes from his father, he inherited his unique hair (well, unique for a Hyuuga, anyway) from his mother. Rather than the usual dark color, his hair is a unique shade of platinum blond. This is unusual for a Hyuuga, but is actually not that hard to understand when one considers that his mother was from Kumogakure, where most shinobi have light hair. So, the two traits which tend to draw attention to them are a reminder of his father and his mother, and resemble them perfectly. He keeps his blond hair down in a ponytail, but when washing up or going to sleep will let it down. When he does let his hair fall straight, many tend to mistake him for a girl, as he is “beautiful” and “pretty.” This results in crushes from both female shinobi (when his hair is in a ponytail) and the occasional oblivious male shinobi who happens to see him with his hair loose.

His skin tone is not as noticeably dark as most shinobi in Kumogakure, a land famous for people with dark skin and light hair. His Konohagakure heritage is dominant in this regard, leaving him looking not exactly pale, but certainly not allowing him to be accused of having a tan. His complexion – either as a result of his age and hygiene or simply good luck – is flawless, unadulterated by unsightly blemishes and acne. As far as his physical build and musculature goes, he is certainly more on the “scrawny” side of the spectrum than the “built” side. He is built – both naturally and through honed physical conditioning – for a combination of speed and precision, not strength or remarkable endurance. He has a “four-pack,” though, and boasts not an inch of spare fat on his body overall. However, it only becomes apparent that he is physically fit when he is not wearing his dark t-shirt and jacket, leading many to be surprised when they see him without any top attire. Lean and lithe, he is built to the ideal sculpting of a Hyuuga clan member.

Sato keeps his Kumogakure forehead protector fastened to a black strip of cloth. He usually secures it about his waist like a belt, or wears it loosely about his neck if he plans to actually wear it. Besides the forehead protector, his normal attire is not necessarily consistent, but does follow a pattern. He wears the typical shinobi sandals and favors wearing long, dark-colored (usually dark blue or black) pants that allow for both comfort and mobility. In addition, he wears at least two layers of top clothing: a white, sleeveless muscle shirt which clings to his frame, and a dark t-shirt (the sleeve length depends on the weather.) Both his t-shirts and pants consist of breathable, flame-retardant material that keeps him warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Over his t-shirt, he favors wearing a lightweight, short-sleeved khaki jacket. He usually keeps the jacket open, but this can change depending on the weather as well.

Personality: On the surface, Satoshi Hyuuga is a boyish, playful, and easy-going individual whom places individuality and personal happiness above most everything else. Unlike most shinobi, however, there is no real hidden element to his personality; there is no actual depth in regards to his level of thinking. He always states how he feels about something, and always says what he feels "needs to be said." This can allow him to come off as blunt, forward, and on many occasions more rude than one might expect from an heir to Hyuuga's main branch. This unapologetically straightforward aspect of his personality has often gotten him lectures from his parents and instructors alike, though as evidenced by his ongoing refusal to restrain himself with social politeness, he never really listened to any of the talks he was given. He despises the concept of "falsehood," which is ironic for a shinobi. He doesn't believe that a person should lie, not even to themselves or to not hurt others, or even to preserve social grace. So, it is with this brutal honesty and an ear-to-ear grin that he has faced everyday of village life within Kumogakure, and he continues to do so to this day.

One would be mistaken, however, to assume that Satoshi is by any definition of the word, "mean." He is actually a very kind-hearted boy whom has yet to be tainted by the darkness. His heart is essentially pure light, and he has never experienced any traumatic events nor even witnessed death, yet. In short, he has lived a sheltered life even as a ninja, and this fact is made apparent by his "innocence." His own father laments the fact he is "too innocent," but believes that his son must learn how hard life can be for a shinobi in his own way. And eventually, there is no doubt that Satoshi will encounter such things as hopelessness, self-weakness, over-powering strength, crushing despair, and even the death of loved ones...and possibly, himself. But until then, one aspect of his personality remains consistent and more noticeable than all others: he harbors within him a blazing fire, and is often very energetic, outgoing, extroverted, and optimistic. He genuinely believes that all obstacles can be over come with the right amount of effort, if the right actions are taken. He doesn't accept helplessness, and would rather suffer unimaginable pain and fight against despair than give into it. Much to the chagrin of his instructors and even his father, he openly voices discontent for the commonly embraced ideal of "do not feel." As a genin, he has not yet learned what it means to be a ninja. He does not know things like defeat, betrayal, and loss. Rather, his childish naiveté contributes to an unyielding iron will...and a hidden aspect of his personality that has not yet been given the spark of life: the Will of Fire, oft spoken of in Konohagakure, and passed on to him through his father.

Despite his admirable tendency to speak his mind (even in situations where it would be best if he held his tongue instead), Satoshi is seen as a strong-willed young boy who is an "idiotic genius." He can often excel at things when he puts his mind to doing so, but he also is immature in a sense, and is undeniably an idiot; from acts of clumsiness to a deliberate disregard for societal norms and values, Sato has never been accused of being the brightest bulb in the box. Still, within the dim bulb that is Satoshi Hyuuga, a radiant light remains dormant and hidden. Satoshi Hyuuga has only ever wanted to be a ninja for one reason: "To save those who cannot save themselves. To be a superhero."

That is his only wish: to protect others, even at risk of great personal harm. And so, it is his idiocy from which he draws his strength and limitless potential. He will inevitably learn many harsh lessons along the road he has chosen...how he cannot save everybody, and how to be strong for others one must be strong themselves. Still, his ideals will never die or yield, and he shall never stay down even if he falls or stumbles. It his his belief that even if the road beneath his feet is rocky, even if he scrapes his knees upon the gravel...it is the job of a shinobi, of a hero, to keep moving forward. Satoshi is - despite being from Kumogakure - a perfect embodiment of the Will of Fire.

On a more personal level, Satoshi Hyuuga is well-liked enough within the village, but until recently he was seen as a hopeless case by instructors from the academy. One reason for this is the fact he graduated two years late, and it was learned that he only did so because he hadn't actually been putting any effort into studying for the final tests or practicing. Once he did put forth a little effort, he graduated at the top of his class, and for his last year in the academy managed to make the highest mark possible on the exams he was given. He loves to read and play with puzzles or games of strategy. Additionally, he enjoys eating, and can seemingly put away an infinite amount of food without ever gaining a pound. He lacks discipline and refinement, that much is clear. But he is merely a diamond in the rough...a stubborn sapling who bloomed late because he wanted to sleep in the dirt a little longer. But one thing was made clear during his performance this last year: when tended to properly, even a plant like himself can blossom into a successful and awe-inspiring bloom.

Clan: Hyuuga

Nindō: “Even if there is only a one percent chance of winning, I’ll overcome any obstacle! If the chances are lower than that, then I’ll make my own reality.”

THE NINJA.

Origin: Kumogakure
Affiliation: Kumogakure
Rank: Genin
Specialties: Taijutsu, Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinities: Raiton, Doton
Combat Style: Sato’s combat style is actually to be expected from anyone familiar with the Hyuuga clan and their unique abilities. Utilizing both his Byakugan kekkai genkai and his Jyuuken (Gentle Fist) style of taijutsu, Sato focuses on a combination of overwhelming speed and surgical precision to take down opponents. Often times, even stronger, bigger, faster, or more skilled opponents can be taken down by his unique yet specialized fighting style. He excels in close-quarters combat, and is satisfied with mid-range combat when the distance can be closed between him and a target. Most notably, his Jyuuken allows him to fight multiple or more-skilled opponents, and ensures that even a slight tap from him can result in defeat for a careless enemy.
Special Characteristics: Speed

THE BACKGROUND.
History: Satoshi Hyuuga was born to two powerful and well-respected shinobi: Takamichi Hyuuga from Konohagakure and Ayaka Yukihiro from Kumogakure. Takamichi had been on a mission to infiltrate Kumogakure, and was intercepted by the lone ANBU kunoichi. Inevitably, the two engaged in battle…yet, ten hours and a ruined swathe of land later, there was still no clear victor. The two had both (essentially) completely depleted their chakra supply and were extremely tired and out of breath. Eventually, a truce was reached…and this tentative olive branch blossomed into a close friendship and eventually romance. Takamichi Hyuuga received criticisms when he briefly returned home, and left the Village Hidden in the Leaves when a messenger hawk from Ayaka confirmed that her neighbors in Kumo were more accepting of their love.

So, in a single night, an important and well respected member of the Hyuuga clan's main branch went on a walk in the cool night air, and never returned to the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Seven months after Takamichi Hyuuga “abandoned” his village, Ayaka gave birth to the son that had been conceived two months prior to Takamichi’s escape. The result was Satoshi Hyuuga, the one destined to become by birthright an heir to the main branch of the Hyuuga clan. And, through both parental wisdom and scrolls, it was assured that Satoshi would one day achieve this goal.

Satoshi’s early childhood was actually fairly uneventful. From day one, he was taught to appreciate his family legacy, though to be humble and modest in the face of his peers. He grasped the importance of family and village, but was raised to not feel beholden to either. By age five, it became apparent that Satoshi was a rambunctious young lad whom was what Takamichi referred to as a “Stupid Genius.” In other words, his parents understood that his high levels of energy and his emotional strength were the backbone of their son as a person…and eventually, a shinobi.

They nurtured their son, administering both discipline and familial kindness. They instilled in him a drive to succeed and overcome obstacles, much as they both had to recognize their marriage and love. He trained rigorously, even from a young age…though, it was evident he only did so because he considered it fun. By age seven, his reason to become a ninja became clear to him: “To save others who need help.” He had been watching not only his parents, but also other ninja in the village…he had been awed by their miraculous deeds…how powerful they truly were. And a desire to obtain that boundless power and put it to good use blossomed within him. By age eight, he found the words he wanted: “It is the duty of the strong to protect the weak and the innocent.”

His years at the ninja academy were also relatively uneventful, though his instructors initially saw him as a hopeless case. Gradually, however, his hard work and drive to succeed became evident, as did his love of reading and playing puzzles. His teachers tried wording questions differently, to pose them as a puzzle and not a test. And when they took that approach, Satoshi absolutely blazed through even advanced questions and tests without excess effort on his part.

Still, his stubborn nature and easygoing personality never really dissipated, to the chagrin of his teachers over the years. Yet, this same stubbornness and laid-back personality became part of him and contributed to lackluster performance on the graduation exams. However, at age fourteen – when he was finally motivated in the least to bother with any actual effort – he graduated top of his class. Now apparently ready to move forward towards his goal of saving those in need and serving Kumogakure as a shinobi, Satoshi Hyuuga has taken the first step on what promises to be a long and educational journey.

Roleplay Sample:As the cacophony of snow-covered branches gently swaying in the cool breeze sounded from above, the hurried sound of footfalls blasting through piled up snow sounded from below. Black loafers, those typically assigned to students of Homurahara Gakuen, found only tentative purchase on the forest floor as each step caused several inches of snow to be displaced. The piled up snow made it noticeably more difficult for him to run through the forest, though perhaps this fact was made more evident by the fact someone - or rather, something - was chasing the young man. The seventeen-year old student didn't offer a single look back into the feral eyes of that... creature. He had no reason to look back... because the first time his eyes had met with those of the chimera, he knew he would die if that thing caught him.

As Satoshi Inoue ran, his breath was visible upon each rough exhale of air, and his light brown eyes frantically searched the forest floor as he ran for his life. He was looking for anything that might help him: a branch, or preferably something metal. But the branches his eyes managed to perceive as he ran were all far too small to do anything to the watchdog chimera behind him. He was surprised he hadn't been caught yet, but undoubtedly it was due only to pure adrenaline and his own impressive physical conditioning that he was alive. Still, either fear or instinct told him that the beast was quickly reducing the distance between predator and prey, and Satoshi didn't expect that he'd ever escape the bizarre-looking lion creature.

He ducked through the lower branches with ease, since most of even the lowest branches were high off the ground. He considered trying to climb one of the nearest trees, but he was sure he'd get his legs ripped off if he so much as tried it. He ducked left and right, zigzagging, focusing on sheer speed as the cold breeze rushed past him, making his nose and ears ache slightly. He could barely see now... it was as if the snowfall had suddenly picked up, in response to his presence. And in the end, it would turn out that was exactly what had happened. He was no longer simply walking through the woods... He was running for his life, and if the lion-lizard behind him caught up... well, Satoshi Inoue would briefly enjoy the short remainder of his life as a chew toy.

I don't...want...to die... Satoshi thought to himself, scorning his own weakness. He was only human, after all... it was natural, then, for him to want to preserve his own life. He hadn't been trespassing on purpose... In fact, the chimera watchdog had been patrolling far beyond its own designated borders, and ironically was now chasing Satoshi directly to the place it was supposed to guard: the Einzbern mansion, hidden by both nature and magic, within the forest surrounding Fuyuki City. Satoshi's teeth were only not chattering because they were forcibly kept against one another with effort. Still, the fluffy snowfall was impeding his progress, and he believed that any minute he would be tackled to the ground and...

At the thought of what fate came after that, his legs ran faster. He felt his heart thump loudly in his chest... on top of that, he could barely catch his breath. He was in fairly good physical condition, but he was no chimera. This thing chasing him was running on all fours, and was clearly a lion of some kind. And boy, did it run like one. It was a miracle Satoshi hadn't been caught yet, and part of him cynically wondered if the thing was playing with him. But then, as the thought crossed his mind, something caught his eye: a break in the shrubbery. With renewed vigor, Satoshi sprinted towards the break in the treeline, emerging in a lovely, snow-covered clearing.

Had his life not been on the line, he would have stopped instantly upon seeing the looming, elegant castle before him. But he was too scared to stop, and he continued to run, headed right for what seemed to be the back door to the castle. He ran through an outdoor courtyard area, with snow-covered flowers and vegetation, and he suddenly tripped. He fell flat on his face in the snow, and waited... He waited for the searing pain of claws and teeth rending his flesh. But the feeling never came... Instead, when Satoshi pushed himself to his hands and knees and regarded the chimera, the lizard-tailed lion was angrily pacing the courtyard parameter, growling at Satoshi as saliva seeped from between the beast's teeth. The message was clear: "If you leave the courtyard, I will tear you limb from limb."

Satoshi didn't need to be told twice, and he calmly - with knees shaking and eyes glancing to the lion almost once every two seconds - stood up, trying to regain his composure. Leaving the courtyard and exiting through the clearing was no longer an option, as even more of those monstrosities had appeared now, and they were circling him like a piece of meat. So, he began to walk towards the castle, down a paved path that led up into a raised door on the castle's backside. Satoshi's legs felt like jelly, but even as they shook whilst he walked, his breathing and heart rate began to stabilize. His eyes began to regard his surroundings now... even covered in several inches of snow, both the looming castle and the courtyard were quite lovely, even serene. They would have been doubly more so, were the chimera watchdogs not so longingly and threateningly eying him. With nowhere to go but straight, he ascended the stone steps and hesitated.

He considered knocking, but the chimera's reactions told him at least one thing: this castle: this old, elegant building was the house of their master. This thought angered him slightly, and his decision to knock was quickly tossed out. He leaned against the large wooden door, and soundlessly it began to open.

"Haah....haaah...."

Even the wind itself didn't make a noise as he slipped from the winter wonderland into one of the warm, back hallways of the Einzbern estate. Only his quiet, labored breathing could be heard. He rested briefly, with his back to the strong, wooden door. But it was doubtful that his trespass onto the castle grounds had gone unnoticed. And as with all magus families, it would be up to the two residents by the name of Einzbern how they would greet the stranger, whom had managed to avoid their chimera watchdogs. Clearly, this young man was a powerful magus, to be able to so easily elude them and enter the castle itself. Well, not really. But others would be blameless for thinking such a thing.

Satoshi's father may not be the "Head" of the Hyuuga clan. That is heavily influencing and essentially rewriting the history of a canonical clan on the site and we don't take especially kindly to things such as that. Please edit his father's historical implications to the Hyuuga.

First of all, please scale the character's image so that it doesn't distort the screen width. You also have a "Hyuuga" link down to the bottom of your application. Please move it in the Clan spot. You mention in the Face Claim Source: "Annaria2002". Please change it to "Deviant Art - Annria2002". Thank you for your work.

Well, I can certainly understand that, and will comply. I merely wrote it that way to make clear that I plan for Sato to be capable of learning every Hyuuga technique eventually, and only after writing it discovered the main/side branch isn't much of an issue here for who can learn what. I'll fix it now.

Enzo is currently rewriting some of the Hyuuga techniques, so until I figure out what's up there not planning to stamp this, I have no further issues with it though. Thank you for your patience.

I edited the listed jutsu, including the Byakugan. I also removed the two upgraded jutsu. However, I added two custom clan jutsu. These two jutsu were copied from Amaterasu Hyuuga. I could not request permission to copy these jutsu, as the forum apparently prevents new members from contacting other members before a certain number of posts are made.

I mention this fact - that I added two of her custom techniques to my character - to show I am NOT intending to steal anything, and am putting it out there to see if me adding those two jutsu as they are written in her profile is a problem, since my character is a Hyuuga and was forced to unlearn the two upgraded techniques.

If I do require Amaterasu Hyuuga's permission, then I would ask a member of the staff to see if my using these techniques is alright before refusing me outright, since I cannot contact her myself, through no fault of my own. If the staff or Amaterasu insist, I will remove/alter the techniques as necessary.

Before you go adding other members technique regardless of whether you've been given permission to use them or not, perhaps it would be wise to wait for the techniques to be fully evaluated first. As it stands, the two techniques you're using are ones that I'm still moderating and thus may change or be removed depending on the outcome of the moderation.

Ah, alright. I'll keep that in mind for the future. However, I'd rather take the chance/wait and see regarding your judgment than have to train for two techniques I could possibly learn for free, sir.

So, I guess I'll just wait and see what your final word is~ Thank you for your hard work and expedient...erm...moderating. ^_^

7. Eight Triagrams: Finger Bullet; this technique reminds me of the Chakra Needle Technique and the reason that works is because they're shaped like needles. Pointy and sharp, meaning they can actually penetrate a targets skin and effectively their chakra system. Orbs though, they're round and smooth and it would seem very unlikely for them to even penetrate the skin. On top of this, you'd need to mention how far the orbs would reach before they disappear.
8. Chakra Tate; either the Chakra Costs are mixed up or the Rank needs editing, because the two don't match each other.
This is what Darius wrote in regards to the two customs; so take this into heart if you feel like using them. Apart from that, your app looks great.

  1. Eight Trigrams: Finger Projection Needles; honestly, I see little to any point of this technique. All that's changed is the fact that they're now needles and you can fire one extra needle out compared to the D - Rank version of the technique. So basically, it's one extra needle. Very pointless in my opinion and really not worth wasting chakra on. However, I can deem it approvable at it's current state now.
  2. Hakke Chakra Tate; I'll need some indepth explanation into what attacks you'll actually be able to block, such as ninjutsu, taijutsu, weaponry, puppets, offensive medical ninjutsu etc... Don't forget as well that if you're able to block ninjutsu then what about elemental ninjutsu, can the flames of the fire still burn you, can you still be pushed away by a fuuton attack and so on. Be aware of the fact that you wont be able to block all forms of attack and you should also mention the fact that you're only able to block techniques that are of your techniques equal rank and below. Meaning B, A and S Rank attacks cannot be blocked by this technique.

Hm. You are correct on the first jutsu's assessment. I got rid of it, lol.

As for the shield, I edited it to include that it is designed only to block taijutsu/physical attacks and ninjutsu. I also added that elemental side effects are mostly brushed off with the attack, and made the addendum that higher ranked attacks won't work.
